Battery Mendal - Marin Headlands, California

This is a small part of a huge battery that sits in the Marin Headlands guarding the entrance to the San Francisco Bay.  I love shooting places like this. So much history,
so many ghosts.  This place once thrived with hundreds of people.  The morning I took these shots I was the only person there for over two hours. You could sit
quietly on the steps and imagine what it must have been like during World War II in contrast to today; nothing but rust, faded paint, ghosts, grafitti and wildlife.
